Question:

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-Uthaymeen asked: About law congratulate the infidel christmas. And how do we answer people who say Christmas to us?

Is someone guilty if doing one of these things accidentally?

Answers:

"Saying congratulations to those who disbelieve with Christmas greeting or other sayings related to their religious celebration is haraam, this law has been agreed. As the quotation from Ibn al-Qayyim in his book Ahkam Ahl adh-dhimma, in which he mentions, The congratulations of the symbols of infidelity in particular, agreed haraam. for example, congratulated the holiday or their fasts by saying, 'Today is a blessed you' or 'Congratulations celebrate this feast' and so forth. It is also forbidden for the Muslims to match the kuffar with parties held in celebration or exchanging gifts, sharing of sweets, dishes containing the food, dismiss the work and so forth, it is based on thewords of of the Prophet sallallaahu ' alaihiwa sallam , "Whoever imitates a people, then it belonged to them."
